The Rome Jewish community is the oldest in Europe, since appx. 150 b. C., when a few people came from the Holy Land to Ancient Ostia, the main River-Port of Rome and built their Synagogue (now there are remains of the Old Temple in Ostia and we can set up a visit of Ancient Ostia: see our section Ostia). On the other hand, the Synagogue of Rome is the most modern artfact we have of the Rome Jewish "Ghetto", built in 1904.

On request, we arrange for Jewish Tour Rome: we may plan to see a couple of itineraries, including also the Portico d' Ottavia, the Tiber Island and Trastevere Area. Each corner in this area is absolutely fascinating. In Trastevere it is absolutely certain that the early Jewish of Rome chose this area as their first settlement.
